Eternal Life is a ma’amar (Chassidic discourse) delivered by the Lubavitcher Rebbe on Shabbos Parshas Korach, 3 Tamuz 5718 (1958), beginning with the words of King David: “For He has placed our souls in life and has not allowed our feet to falter.” This ma’amar was subsequently edited by the Rebbe and published as “Kuntres Gimmel Tamuz 5749”.
The ma’amar sheds light on the inner meaning of the 3rd day of the month of Tamuz over the course of our history, and explains why, as the Rebbe writes in the ma’amar’s introduction: “It is incumbent upon Chassidim to celebrate the day of Gimmel Tamuz”.
In the ma’amar, the Rebbe explores the true meaning of life, delving into the concepts of transcendent, eternal life as explained in the teachings of Chassidus, and their practical application in daily life and in Divine service.
In Eternal Life we learn about the impact of such true and eternal vitality on our lives, as channeled through the leader of each generation.
